Charles White wife: Who Is Charles White wife?

Charles White was an American professional football player who was a running back in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons during the 1980s.

Charles White biography

California’s Los Angeles is where White was born. He graduated from San Fernando High School in San Fernando, California, where he competed in track and field and defeated future Olympic gold winner Andre Phillips to win the 330-yard low hurdles at the CIF California State Meet. In high school, he excelled as a football player.

Charles White cocaine use

White struggled with cocaine and marijuana use while he was a student at USC. He acknowledged using marijuana regularly at USC and snorting his first line of cocaine a few weeks before the 1977 Rose Bowl in a 1987 Sports Illustrated piece.

White entered drug rehab in 1982 and maintained his sobriety for three years. However, the Los Angeles Rams picked him up on waivers after the Cleveland Browns released him in 1985, reuniting him with his old college coach John Robinson.

White quickly relapsed into cocaine but quickly recovered, staying clean up until one night in August 1987, when he and a friend performed lines until White was apprehended. Robinson, on the other hand, offered to bail him out of jail and to keep him on the team as long as he kept sober.

In the strike-affected 1987 season, White responded by having his finest season ever. After the Rams traded for Eric Dickerson, he ran for 339 yards in three “scab games,” and then for 100 yards in five straight games.

Charles White professional career

The Cleveland Browns selected White with the 27th overall choice in the first round of the 1980 NFL Draft.

White was released prior to the 1985 season after four underwhelming seasons in Cleveland, where he carried for a total of 942 yards and averaged 3.4 yards per carry. Later, White admitted that he battled a cocaine addiction during this time.

He reconnected with his college coach, John Robinson, who was then the Los Angeles Rams coach, after being released from the Browns in 1985. From 1985 to 1988, White would play with the Rams for four seasons.

He amassed a league-high 1,387 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns in 1987, earning him a Pro Bowl selection and the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award.
