Davenport woman faces robbery charge after purse theft, assault
A 27-year-old Davenport woman was in custody Friday after Davenport Police allege she is connected to a robbery Thursday in Davenport, court records say.
Ranissa Wyatt faces a felony charge of second-degree robbery and a serious misdemeanor charge of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness, court records say.
About 6:44 p.m. Thursday, Davenport Police were dispatched to the area of 3rd and Division streets for a report of a robbery, according to arrest affidavits.
Wyatt, police allege, assaulted the victim by punching the victim in the head and face several times. While assaulting the victim, she stole the victim’s purse that contained $1,500 cash, a cell phone and car keys, affidavits say.
According to affidavits, Wyatt then ran off.
“As a result of the assault, the victim received black and blue swelling and bruising to their left eye. Within minutes, (Wyatt) was located by officers in the area of the incident and was found to have the victim’s currency,” affidavits show.
Wyatt gave officers a fictitious name and date of birth, police allege in affidavits. The incident was recorded on video surveillance, where she was positively identified by officers.
Wyatt was being held Friday on a total $15,000 cash-only bond in Scott County Jail. She is set for a preliminary hearing March 1 in Scott County Court.
