Soda Served in Bucket at KFC Dubbed the 'Most American' Thing Ever

First you could get a tub of their original recipe chicken, then hot wings, then popcorn chicken and now finally, your soda is served by the bucket.

A fast food fan has branded KFC's soda buckets as "the most American" thing she's ever seen, after her chicken feast came with the novel item.

Aubrey Layton and her mom decided to treat themselves to some fried chicken, and grabbed take-out from KFC in Hamlin, Pennsylvania.

Layton's mom picked up the 10 piece feast, which came with a large coleslaw, two large fries, four biscuits and four chocolate chip cookies, all for $30.

While most meals come with a drink—with a large order served with a bottle rather than a cup—Layton wasn't prepared for what the servers handed them.

Rather than a traditional bottle of soda, they instead received a "bucket," which came as a pouch in the shape of a KFC tub. It had the brand's logo emblazoned on the side, with a screw-cap lid sticking out the top.

She shared a clip to TikTok of her Pepsi bucket—and receipt as proof—saying: "My mom went to KFC today and I thought the bucket of Pepsi was a typo.

"Well they weren't f-ing kidding," she said, showing off the plastic pouch, adding: "This is the most American s*** I've ever seen."

The clip, which she simply captioned "crazy," has been viewed more than 3 million times since being uploaded on Saturday, and can be seen here. The receipt showed Layton and her mom visited the restaurant that same day.

It's not clear if the branded bucket is available at all locations, or only with certain drinks, but fellow customers claimed in the comments it was called a "beverage bucket," which can be filled with the drink of your choice.

"Mine got a bucket of fruit punch," Wsp revealed.

Peanut Butter Toothpaste claimed: "If they sell Mountain Dew like that too I'm going to KFC tomorrow."

Jay Vision admitted: "I literally thought it was a bag of gravy the first time."

"I went there the other day and we got the same thing but with Sprite, I was carrying it and I was getting so many weird looks," Isabelle admitted.

While Hasan simply said: "Please tell me where this is."

Agreeing, Gege added: "Not gonna lie I want that."

And Jaden Stanley replied: "As a KFC worker in Oklahoma: this is legit and you can buy the bucket by itself. Just ask for the beverage bucket."

A spokesperson for KFC told Newsweek: "There's nothing more iconic than our signature red and white Bucket. Now, fried chicken fans can quench their thirst with KFC's signature beverage bucket, designed for friends or family to share as they enjoy a meal, like our $20 Fill Up, together.

"Introduced in April 2021 and available at participating restaurants nationwide, the half-gallon beverage bucket comes in one size for $3.99 (price may vary by restaurant) and can be filled with any soda, iced tea or lemonade on KFC's menu."

Newsweek reached out to Aubrey Layton for comment.
