Lil Uzi Vert gets SUED over the sample in his Strawberry Peels song

One of the bonus tracks Lil Uzi Vert included in Lil Uzi Vert vs. The World 2, the deluxe edition of his 2020 album Eternal Atake, has lead to a new lawsuit.

The 27-year-old rapper (born Symere Bysil Woods, who uses they/them pronouns) - who copped a plea deal in an assault case earlier this year -  was sued by Sun City Publishing, according to TMZ.

The sample was allegedly pilfered from a 1995 song called Dim Da Lights by a Memphis based musician known as Blackout.

The lawsuit alleges that Sun City Publishing never received permission from Lil Uzi Vert to use the Dim Da Lights samples for the Strawberry Peels song.

The company claims the song has amassed at least $1 million in sales - claiming the song has raked in 39 million Spotify streams and more than 4 million plays on YouTube - and they are seeking that amount in damages.
