Peoria man arrested on Bettendorf warrant
A Peoria, Ill., man faces charges after he was arrested Wednesday on a warrant out of Bettendorf, a news release says.
Shortly after 1:30 p.m., the West Burlington Police Department responded to Walmart, 324 W. Agency Road for a report of a theft in progress. Upon arrival the suspect fled from the responding patrol officer, the release says.
The suspect failed to comply with multiple orders to stop and was apprehended after a foot pursuit. He was identified as Deyvon Mangwell King, who had active arrest warrants out of Bettendorf and was in possession of a loaded firearm, cocaine and marijuana, the release says.
King was transported to the Des Moines County Jail.
The active arrest warrants out of Bettendorf were failure to appear-two counts of operating while intoxicated – first offense, failure to appear-possession of a controlled substance, according to the release
From King was charged with the following stemming from the Wednesday incident: Possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a controlled substance (marijuana,) possession of a controlled substance (cocaine,) interference with official acts, and fifth-degree theft.
The West Burlington Police Department was assisted by the Southeast Iowa Narcotics Taskforce and the Burlington Police Department.
