CAROL Sutton was an American actress known for her work on the big and small screen.
Sadly the star, who appears in the second series of Netflix's Outer Banks, passed away in 2020.
Who is Carol Sutton in Outer Banks?
The late actress is introduced to Outer Banks in season two, when Pope (Jonathan Daviss) is on a journey about his family's history.
He finds a key that was hidden in his great-grandmother's ceiling and wants to know about its origins.
To get those questions answered, he visits his Mee-Maw (Carol) in an assisted living community, and that's how the actress is introduced to viewers.
The show pays tribute to Carol at the end of episode six of the second series.
Before the credits roll, it ends with a title card that reads, "In loving memory of Carol Sutton".
Carol was born on December 3, 1944, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
After beginning her career on the stage in the 60s, Carol made her big-screen debut in 1974 with The Autobiography Of Miss Jade Pittman.
Aside from her role on 80s film Steel Magnolias, Carol also found herself in plenty of other well known films including Ray and The Help.
According to NOLA, Carol is survived by her husband Archie Sutton Jr.
What was Carol Sutton's cause of death?
On December 10, 2020, just a few days after her 76th birthday, Carol died due to Covid.
New Orleans mayor LaToya Cantrell confirmed the late star's passing.
She released a statement that read: "Carol Sutton was practically the Queen of New Orleans theater, having graced the stages across the city for decades.
"The world may recognize her from her performances in movies and on TV — whether it’s Treme or Claws, or Runaway Jury or Queen Sugar — but we will always remember her commanding stage presence, her richly portrayed characters and the warm heart she shared with her fellow cast and crew in productions such as 4000 Miles and A Raisin in the Sun.
LaToya added: "May she rest in God’s perfect peace.”
Carol, who was also on the series Queen Sugar, was honored by the show's creator, Ava DuVernay.
